CAMELLIA SINENSIS, THE PLANT

 

It is a plant from the theaceas family, popularly known as tea, native of  the forests of northeast India and southern China. It has small flowers, with white petals and equally small spherical fruits.

It’s extensively cultivated in the world, particularly in Sri Lanka, India, China, Japan, Taiwan, Kenya, Cameroon, Tanzania and Malawi. Its cultivation is more favourable in fertile, well irrigated soiled and with good exposure to sunlight.


However, it also needs moderate heat and for that it is planted in tropical areas near mountains and plateaus up to 1000 m high.
